The old bearing hub cap remover, fits
many standard old passenger cars. The slide hammer action and gripper works superbly
for removal or installing bearing dust cap without a ding or scratch !!
I always check for loose wheel bearing before pulling the tire and wheel. Grab
tire at the top and bottom and rock in and out to detect play. It should not have
any.
With the cap removed, remove the cotter pin and loosen or remove the spindle
nut. The bearing will pop out of the race if you smack the top of the brake drum
with the heal of your hand. If you remove the nut be prepared to catch the bearing!
