Two basic types of the Eaton pump were used front mounting and rear mounted as
the threaded spacer area of the rear body protruded to accommodate the rear mounting
feature.

A doner pump was recruited to supply virtually every moving part except the pump
rear plate(because it was of the front mounting type) .Cars with air conditioning
had a unique feature as it used a divorced reservoir with an adapter at the pump
connected with oil-proof hose. The new seal kit was installed as the illustration
below. Remember to use transmission fluid as Ford recommends, regular ''clear'' power
steering fluid can cause damage to hoses or seals.

Since the Eaton power steering pump filter has been obsolete for over a decade,
many remain unchanged.
The filter is enclosed within the fluid reservoir and is held into place by a
coil spring .When the filter becomes saturated with solids and other contaminates,
restricted passage of fluid can cause the level to rise within the reservoir to the
point of overflowing.

If your filter looks like this one, remove the center screen section and place
between two large washers. Be sure the hole in the lower washer is large enough to
allow the fluid to pass though without restriction.
